The following chair upgrades are available on most of our chairs that are manufactured in New Zealand. In most cases, these upgades can be retro-fitted at a later date too. Please enquire first.
Arms
The most common type of arm is the height adjustable variety – necessary for sliding underneath desk tops. Various chairs offer different ‘style’ arms, from slightly rounded to a more square style
Castors / Glides
For wooden or concrete floors, soft wheel castors are required so chairs don’t ‘skate’ around the floor! For chairs you don’t want to move at all, glides are a good option.
Polished Base
For executive offices and meeting and boardrooms, an upgrade to a polished metal base is a styligh feature on any chair. A metal base also increases the chair’s strength, and can be a good option for heavier users.
Seat Slide
Great for taller chair users, a seat slide pushes the seat depth out, so there is more of your leg resting on the chair seat. Remember the rule that there should be a few fingers width between the back of your knees and the front of the chair – if you have more room than this, you may like to consider a chair that either has a seat slide as standard, or that can be added on as an extra.
Large Seat / Mega Seat / Long Seat / Wide Seat
Almost every New Zealand manufactured chair offers a large seat upgrade. Whether you just require extra length (long seat) or a larger seat in general (mega / wide seat).
High (Architect) Lift
Called either a high lift or architect lift, this style of base boosts a chair up to bar stool height, and usually comes with a footring to assist getting into the chair and providing a footrest. We recommend putting a high lift on a two lever style chair only, with a small -medium size to prevent tipping / unbalance.
Inflatable Lumbar Support
Only available on some models of chairs, and not able to be retro-fitted. Either dial-up inflatable lumbar, or pump-up lumbar, increases the lumbar support in the back of the chair.
